About Pothole Nepal

Pothole Nepal is a public, Nepal-wide map for reporting potholes and other road hazards. Anyone can report a pothole in under 30 seconds — take a photo, and the app automatically captures your location, identifies the road, and works out which municipality, ward, district, or road authority is responsible.

Why this exists

Road damage in Nepal is widespread, but there has never been a single, live, data-driven picture of where the worst problems are or who is responsible for fixing them. This platform aggregates citizen reports into road-level and municipality-level intelligence — which roads are getting worse, which are improving, and which authority resolves reports fastest.

What's next

The reporting model is built generically from day one, so future phases can add garbage dumping, accessibility hazards, flooding, broken footpaths, damaged drainage, and other public infrastructure problems — without rebuilding the platform.

Privacy

Reporting never requires an account. Reports are public, but reporter identity, contact details, and device information are never shown publicly — see the architecture documentation for the full privacy model.
